So I just started using Windows Vista about 2 weeks ago, and I must say, its got a few differences from XP but not much. I do like it better than XP and I haven’t had any problems at all (or none I can think of). For the average windows user, Vista may seem much different and a little overwhelming, but all of your old features are there, and some new. If you’re thinking about upgrading I would recommend it, but only if you have a new computer. If you don’t you won’t get all of the goodies like aero which is the new interface which looks like glass. If you use a mac and you are thinking about switching over, shame on you.
Anyways, my friend posted some Vista tips over on his blog which really helped me out. You can view them by clicking here: Vista Tips.
Well, there is my 2 cents on Vista, more to come as I continue to use Vista more.

Just thought I should point out that over at the Adobe Labs you can now download a public preview of Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3, and Soundbooth CS3. I don’t know about all of you, but I have been waiting for a Universal version of Premiere and After Effects for a long time now. I believe these products will be released in Q3 of 2007, but at least we can try these babies out for now.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — April 16, 2007 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced free public previews of Adobe Premiere® Pro CS3, Adobe After Effects® CS3 Professional and Adobe Soundbooth™ CS3 software, components of the recently announced Adobe Creative Suite® 3 Production Premium. Video and creative professionals now have the opportunity to test these new public previews on Adobe Labs at http://labs.adobe.com/ . The final shipping releases will be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2007.

A friend called me today and wanted to me to go fix their computer. The problem was: Whenever they booted into windows, Sonic (a burning program I think) would start its installation process and ask for the CD. My friends don’t know how they screwed their computer up to do this (most windows users never know why there computer is doing what it is doing, SWITCH TO MAC, hehe). I told them that it was probably in the registry, and sure enough it was. These are the steps I took to resolve this issue, just in case anyone out there ever comes across a similar issue.
1) Go to the start menu and then click run.

2) In the dialog box type in regedit an then click ok.

3) Now navigate to any of these following keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
Here is a screenshot of one of the keys [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]:

4) Now look and see if the path to the file that is starting up is in any of these keys and delete them. The way I found out is by finding one that I didn’t know what it was and then navigating there in windows explorer and trying it out by double clicking it. I finally found the one that did the same thing that was happening on Windows boot and deleted it. Problem solved.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments. Also check this site out for more info on adding and deleting keys to start or not start things up on bootup. PC Tools Software.
If your on a Windows Vista machine, I’m not sure how to go about doing this, if you have any idea, leave it in the comments, or let me know if you even have to. Maybe Vista does not get stuck with these weird registry issues.
